Wrote: wrote: when will we get the party chat function that xbox has and has had since it launched.- facepalm!!!!!!!! Wont happen unless Sony pay someone for the privilege of adding cross game chat. Someone else will own the patent on that and I doubt it is Sony, as they dont have cross game chat. So unless Sony cough up same cash for it, it aint happening.:D Why would Sony pay for patent when they can create their own? Patent is not the problem. Sony has released firmware version 3.66. The update, according to a PlayStation Blog post, states that the update is “minor” and improves system and network stability. Also, download the software on PC folks, much faster and doesn't disconnect you. Put the file on fat32 USB or USB HDD. Then run the update on PS3 by selecting 'From Storage'. Sony wont be able to use cross game chat on the ps3 unless they pay someone that owns the patent, either that or be taken to court for using it without permission. You cannot just add something if you dont own the patent on that tech. Wrote: wrote: The update will improve operating quality of the PlayStation 3 Would you care to explain how? Having just done the update I found that it didnt explain anything except the usual 'we own all' dross that you have to accept. Quite dispicable really to not let us know whats going on with the hardware in at least some minor detail. After all we did pay for it, a small factor that seems to be vastly overlooked, for some reason. The update change logs on the PS3 are quite awful. Many times a major feature has been released and the change log states nothing about it or 90% of any other changes. How are people who don't read the forum/blog supposed to find out what an update does? Whoever writes them shoud be fired IMO. This is of course the changelog that appears on the system itself, not the forum/blog. Sony need to take a leaf out of Blizzards book. Man I loved that game:xCry: Hi Guys, The improvements have not been specified to myself in any more detail- but this would relate to stability of the XMB for instance and the user interface. If I ever have any more specific information relating to the update, and the particular areas that are improved (or indeed any additions) I will let you know. • Tell us some more • Upload in progress • Upload failed.
